Five members of Ireland 1 undertook the "Saddle Sore 1000 Challenge" in June 2014.

Barry O Mahony, JJ Meacle, Declan O Dwyer, Alan Roberts and Ger Barriscale rode 1050 miles in 22.5 hours. They undertook the challenge in order to raise funds for 6 year old Izzy O'Connell, who is very ill. Izzy's dad Steven is a member of Cork City Fire Brigade.

A big thank you to our colleague in the National Ambulance Service and member ofWhite Knights Ireland 1 (formerly known as Three Nines Motorcycle Club), Kieran Minihane, who was there at the start middle and end of the challenge to take photographs.
