Ireland / U.K Meeting

15th to 17th April.

2016

The Ireland / U.K. meeting was held at The Glendalough Hotel, County Wicklow.

Glendalough is situated in the Wicklow mountains adjacent to the Glendalough Round Tower and monastic settlement dating back to the 6th Century, in a part of the country known as the Garden of Ireland.

This years event was attended not only by the Ireland and U.K chapters but we were also delighted to welcome the members of Belgium 2 and Switzerland 1 on their first visit to Ireland. The first of many we hope.

The groups started arriving at the hotel from early Friday afternoon and enjoyed a very sociable night catching up and meeting some new friends.

On Saturday morning we were joined by the Irish chapter of the Blue Daos Law Enforcement M.C. and the White Knights Ireland Chapter for the ride out. It was great to have these chapters attend to promote friendship and comraderie between the chapters. The Green Knights had their own function the same weekend and were unable to attend unfortunately.

The ride out took us in a figure of 8 ride through the Wicklow mountains. Taking in the Wicklow Gap and a ride overlooking the Blessington Lakes before breaking for lunch at Ireland's second highest pub Johnnie Fox's. Following the light refreshments the return journey through the mountains took us through the Sally Gap before returning to Glendalough.

Saturday evening we had a lovely meal followed by some speeches and presentations. Many thanks to European President Tom "Sparks" Hoedjes for attending and also relaying apologies from Region 7 Director Pierre Halleux who was unable to attend. We at Ireland 1 would like to thank all who made the effort to attend and for your presentations which were greatly appreciated.

After the formalities it was time to continue the celebrations in the bar which had live music and our old friend Looping Louie. Great craic with great friends.

On Sunday morning after breakfast it was time to say goodbye with some heading for ferries and others for flights home. Some others made the most of their trip and stayed on for a few extra days to tour around Ireland.

We had great weather over the weekend, always a bonus in Ireland, and enjoyed a fantastic weekend. The Ireland / U.K. meeting is growing every year and perhaps we could hold one of these meetings in Belgium in the near future as the Belgian chapters have been so supportive in the past.

Until next time.
